About the event
We are very pleased to confirm that the 2023 RCPsych International Congress will return as a face-to-face event, taking place at the ACC Liverpool between Monday 10 – Thursday 13 July.
Following the huge success of our in-person event in Edinburgh and the overwhelmingly positive member feedback, we decided to review how we delivered the Congress in 2023. It was widely felt that an in-person Congress provides far more opportunity for interaction, catching up with old friends, making new ones and the protected time away from your homes and offices which makes the event so special.
We understand that this is a change from what we previously had planned, and some of you may have been looking forward to an online Congress again. The pandemic taught us many benefits of online, particularly with regard to accessibility, convenience and the ability to watch what we want when we want. We recognise that this is especially important when work pressures are so great and when so many of you have extensive caring responsibilities.
We want to continue to keep some of this welcome innovation, so as we did in 2022, we will be recording all the sessions from the Congress to allow you to catch up on sessions you may have missed or things you want to watch again. The recordings will be included in your whole Congress ticket, or you can purchase them as an online only package, for a reduced fee, after the Congress has taken place.
We are very excited to be returning to Liverpool for the first time in over 10 years. Liverpool is a city full of history and culture, with the ACC Liverpool based at the heart of the waterfront area, just moments away from the Royal Albert Dock. It is perfectly located for you to explore the surrounding area, the sights and the hundreds of restaurants, all within a few minutes’ walk.
Over the four days of the Congress, you will as ever, have the opportunity to attend talks from 15 world-renowned keynote speakers and choose from over 70 cutting edge sessions. The programme will feature key opinion leaders in mental health from the social and political sphere but crucially we will also hear from those with lived experience and their families. We hope to have the programme available at the beginning of next year, so do keep an eye on our website or join the mailing list for up-to-date information when that is released.
There is still a chance to be a part of this amazing programme. We will be opening the call for abstracts for poster presentations very soon. The top scoring abstracts will be selected for Rapid Fire Presentation, giving you the opportunity to present your research to psychiatrists from across the world. All poster presenters will also be given the chance to have their abstracts published in a special supplement of the British Journal of Psychiatry Open.
Online registration is now open. We have sold out in recent years so book early to avoid disappointment and take advantage of the early bird rates which will be available until the end of March. You can also now book accommodation through our partner website, giving you a choice of hotels within close proximity to the venue.
We are continuing to explore how we can reduce the environmental impact of the Congress and would very much like you to get involved to help us to achieve our aims. Have a read through our sustainability guidance to explore the different ways you can help, including how you can travel to the Congress venue.
